Ear blockage is one of the most common things that happen to the human body when encountered with microbial infections such as cold or fever. It’s because of the eustachian tubes, the ear becomes obstructed creating fullness and pressure. As a result, we cannot hear properly. This temporary deafness usually continues only until the sickness ceases. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case with the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

Some published reports say that of many major long-term complications that are linked to COVID-19, sudden deafness also tops the list. Based on an Israeli study, the patients infected with the coronavirus were prescribed some Hearing Tests such as otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and auditory brainstem response (ABR) to evaluate the auditory functioning. The Hearing Clinics observed difficulties only in the individuals with severe Covid-19 infection. Yet, at this point, there is no clinical evidence to suggest how this virus plays a role in auditory complexities.
